Pleasant Dreams - Wood Burning

Description

Well, this one was a fun one. I want to first say that when andypriceart posted the original Luna and Tiberius Pleasant Dreams, I absolutely fell in love with the piece. I love what the man has brought to Princess Luna through the comics. He has helped me love this character even more than just the show did. (And if you know me, you know I love Luna). So, I figured I'd give myself a challenge and try a few methods out on this piece. As a learning piece, this really did it's job. I learned a lot of what worked and a lot of what doesn't work. I love the shading on Tiberius, I hate the shading on Luna. But overall, I really like the piece.

For the technicals, this piece was burned on a pine plaque. I used 4 different tips in making this piece and testing the different shading techniques. The moon and eyes are painted to add a little extra pop to the piece. This is a technique I stole from the original. All in all this piece took me around 10 hours to complete. I'm really trying to make improvements in my work and I really think this piece helped me out. I'd like to attempt it again down the road once I have a few more tools to my toolbelt. Please let me know what you like/hate about it.

Great idea on the white paint! It tricks my brain into thinking the moon is bright because it's so much lighter than all the surrounding colors XD (Well, I guess technically it is brighter, being white and all haha ^_^)

The fine details on Tiberius and subtle lines in the cloud add a nice increase to the fidelity!

What type of tips did you use for the background area?  I did a little research and it sounds like backgrounds are 1) very difficult and 2) extremely time consuming.  You've got more patience than me haha! XD  (I'm pretty sure I say this every time :P )
